Academics

The main function of the academic division is to teach, develop training modules, engage in consultancy interventions, undertake research and publish professional articles and books. Above all, the department is to provide up-to-date and relevant training programmes that respond to the needs of clients. One of the greatest challenges is to conduct research, and develop well-researched training programmes.

Our Mandate

The Ministry of the Public Service is mandated to develop and maintain a stable, efficient and effectively managed public service. (The Ministry`s mandate is derived from the Minister`s powers as provided for under Section 10 of the Public Service Act 2005)

ACADEMIC PLANNING, RESEARCH AND CONSULTANCY (APRC)

APRC is responsible academic planning which entails planning of training programmes of the Institute in consultation with the training divisions; and coordination of research and consultancy work undertaken by the Institute.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTING (FMA)

FMA is responsible for equipping financial, accounting and materials management officers with necessary knowledge and skills to be more proficient in their jobs.

GOVERNANCE AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (GSED)

GSED is responsible for building capacities and enhancing knowledge and skills of those involved in sustainable development initiatives. It provides solutions and guidelines on the best practices of good governance, administration, rural development, poverty reduction and disaster management. It is particularly designed to link citizens and governance at local, regional and national levels to ensure sustainable development delivery that is just, environmentally friendly, and champions gender sensitivity and good health for all.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMPUTER TRAINING (ITCT)

ITCT is responsible for imparting and improving theoretical knowledge and practical skills in computing and information technology applications. It is concerned with the application of computers to a wide range of problems. It provides organizations with an understanding of how software and hardware can be harnessed to help solve problems. It provides an understanding of the many forms of interaction between humans and computers. The division has a wide variety of career courses in Information Technology Programs to promote a greater awareness and cost-effective use of IT skills in the public and private sectors.

PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (PAHRD)

PAHRD aims at strengthening the knowledge and skills as well as changing the attitudes of middle and top management with a view to improve their efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness in their job performance. Its role is to act as a catalyst for change in organizations and assist them to achieve and maintain a competitive edge.

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT PLANNING (CDP)

Review the research and development of training curricula and materials for institutional training programs. This process operates within the framework of national development plans and institutional policies and procedures. Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of revised curricula in line with business changes and best practices. Review and monitor the implementation of the designed curricula.

LIBRARY

It serves as centre of learning and professional development through reliable provision of educational resources geared towards improvement of public service delivery in the country. provide access to information and learning resources to support the institute’s teaching, training, learning and research needs for faculty and administrative staff.
